Does the term “Year-End Review” get your pulse racing?  Do you dread having to consolidate all of your accomplishments? Are you reluctant to hear feedback from your manager and peers? Well, performance reviews shouldn’t be scary if you consider their ultimate goal — alignment on performance and agreement on what to focus on in the future.

A regular alignment is a great opportunity to review your achievements against both business and development goals to develop a shared understanding of how your work relates to the team and the company’s objectives.  This allows you to highlight the impact you’ve made, the challenges you’ve overcome and the lessons you’ve learned. An open conversation creates a pathway for feedback and identification of further opportunities for development.

Select topic templates in Dabra

To help you get started, we’ve teamed with HR professionals to create a Performance Alignment meeting template that you can use throughout the year (not just at Year-End).  Within Dabra, you can reflect upon your accomplishments against business goals, successes, challenges, and lessons learned. You can highlight the courses you’ve taken and the skills gained. You and your manager can discuss feedback on your performance — what should you start, stop and continue doing. Finally, you can document the outcome of your conversation and what to focus on moving forward.
